Let me introduce you all to “Furkle”. I’ve always loved otters! It was so exciting to see them when I was growing up.
Tarka supposedly means “little water wanderer” in old Devon dialect, and I wanted to follow a similar path with the name of this piece. That’s when I stumbled across the Devon dialect word “furkle” — meaning to rummage or root about — which I think is such a perfect description of otterish behaviour!
This original pastel painting was created with Panpastels and pastel pencils on 25x35cm brown pastelmat.
